Jay has been gifted with the ability to become a specialist in nursery, pond, and landscaping endeavors. His passion for this vocation was instilled in him at an early age as his parents shared their love of nature and the joy it can bring oneself and others.
Jay completed two years of college at Delaware Community College in Media, Pennsylvania and then three years of study at Longwood Gardens. He gained experience while working at a nursery in from 1985-86 as a laborer learning the trade and then later as a caretaker of private estates from 1995-1998. He has been with Leon’s Garden World from 1998 – Present. Jay has been a manager overseeing the garden centers and has been a partial owner of the business since 2015.
Jay is an expert in plant identification, habitat and care of plants, shrubs, trees, and ponds. Jay’s passion for nature developed over the course of his lifetime work in that field, and he has accomplished much in educating and providing services to others who have shared for their love and enjoyment of the plant world.
Jay has been married to his beautiful wife, Antoinette since 2014. She has always been encouraging and supportive of Jay with his business dreams and as such has been the coordinator of LGW’s events and classes which enhance the community’s engagement with plants and awareness of LGW’s available services. Jay has two daughters and five grandchildren.
